Beneath the Arrabida bridge

This is the first bridge over the Douro river coming in from the Atlantic. Taken from this angle reminds me of a giant zipper in the sky.

Views from Gaia today

Luiz the First bridge taken from vantage point of Serra Do Pilar on south bank of River Douro - we walked across the upper level - has trams running on it.
This it the Serra Do Pilar where Wellington signed a treaty with Portugal. Wellington's army booted the French out of Porto. They crossed the Douro river from this point in broad daylight, using wine barges to transport troops and so outflanking the French Army.

Wine barges!

View of port wine houses from cable car.

Looking across to Porto ( just a small section of).

And just so you know we are thinking of you all:

Wrote all your names on this Sky lantern and sent it off from the end of the pontoon to a ripple of applause from an unseen Portugese audience :O) It went way out into the Atlantic, we watched it until it looked like a star.

Blue Moon Viana Do Castelo

This is the view to Port tonight...
And this the one to Starboard - both taken within a minute of the other! Happy Blue moon wherever you are  :O)
