Spotted in the Alameda Gardens Faro :O)

Mummy Peahen with one of her three pea-lings :O) So sweet

Something Macabre - not for the fainthearted OK...

In the Chapel of Bones  in the garden of the Igreja Do Carmo. The whole place is made of bones and skulls from the burial grounds within the Monastry...

This is the ceiling...

The Altar!

One corner...

The doorway. There are some 1200 skulls in there and innumerable hip and knee joints.

Faro today

Motorboat marina Faro. We came in by RIB from the lagoon.

Clam and cockle pickers at work today.

  Gate into Old Town Faro...

Pavement leads you to the water...

Typical cafe getting ready for the lunchtime crowd.

This tree has outgrown it's pot...

In the middle of a car park ladies with a hair braiding business under umbrellas :O)

Anchorage Faro lagoon

Last night we arrived in Faro. Access is only at high tide and even then it can be dodgy as sandbars everywhere. No Marina for yachts, we anchored at sunset - see above :O) Surrounded by Storks, Flamingoes, Egrets and other birds with the most beautiful night songs and overhead...the occasional drone of an EasyJet or Monarch plane coming in to land at Faro airport - surreal...

From our deck last night across lagoon the Faro lights and the moon rising...

Daybreak 3rd October 2012.

Silvres - upriver from Portimao

Olive trees line the river.
