Greek Owls :O)

Isn't he cute? I've been followed by Owls since November 2013. No matter where I go, every night I hear an owl and see images of them all over the place. I thought I would be free of them in Greece - but No! Imagine my surprise when I was told the sweetest birdsong I hear at night is that of the owl. Greek owls have a totally different call to those in UK (the link below is the song of a Greek owl). Kind of sweet really :O)

And the History and Myths that surround Greece Owls are legendary - used on coins still.

Petriti - A few tavernas and five trillion firelies

Such a dear little place, two hours sail south of Corfu town ( still on Corfu island). This traditional Greek fishing village that has given up a little bit of the quay to yachts. You can anchor here but it's shallow throughout. We were fortunate to be able to come stern to the quay in 2 metres of water with our depth alarm going off continually LOL.

Fishing fleet - you can't see the little village for them.

They go out late afternoon and return early next morning - we didn't hear them or feel any surge - they sell the catch straight off the boat - brilliant.
This little dude was allowed two small fry - see the remains of the other on the left - very neatly done cat!
This is what happens when you ignore the charts! This yacht has been here since 2012, just fifty metres from us.
For the kids...large and small.
To the theme tune of 'Jaws' this flotilla of holiday boats head for us - they ended up rafting outside the harbor. That's mainland Greece in background.
Clouds and clouds of jasmine everywhere and at night we stood in a meadow full of firefires - magic!

Petriti was our first sail after leaving Corfu at lunchtime. Just a short hop to check the sails and equipment and all was well. So good to be out on the sea and heading off again!

A blot on the landscape - or perhaps a 'bott' is more apt.

Yesterday the sailing holiday yachts cleared the marina and I posted a pic of our lovely view. Last night the motor boats started to come in around us and the view has changed slightly... from this:

Dairy, Gluten, Egg and Sugar Free BROWNIES

Only six ingredients in these VERY chocolatey  baked onboard Brownies:

2  Sweet Potatoes
14 Medjool dates
2/3 cup Ground Almonds
1/2 cup Rice flour ( or any flour you like)
4 tbsps. Raw Cacoa
3 tbsps. Pure Maple Syrup.

Totally natural and unrefined they really are the sweetest, most moist, chocolatey brownie ever. The Sailing Holiday lads and lasses didn't need to be asked twice to sample them!

Method:
Peel and chunk sweet potatoes and steam until soft. Whizz together with the dates until blended - I have a stick Blender on Lerryn Lady. Mix in all the other ingredients and stir well. Spoon into a lined and greased loaf tin ( or whatever small deep pan you have) and cook for 20 mins at 180C or Gas 4 until a pierce with a kebab stick comes out clean and dry. Leave the cake to cool for at least 10 minutes in the tin as this gives it time to 'stick together', then remove from tin and leave for another few minutes before cutting into small squares - WARNING they are really Moorish.

Mizzen Mast goes back up - *Drum Roll*

The lads arrived on schedule...

Greg ran over his plan, three lads onboard and the others twirling the mast into position... good job we have a passerelle!

Steady lads...

My plan didn't go quite to plan, only enough battery power for a few seconds Video

Patch, Isaac and Dan positioning the mast foot in the cockpit.

Ralph with one of the  steadying sheets...

A cockpit full of helpers starting on the beer run - Job well done lads - thank you!
